LOL well xmas day has well and truely gone!!! What has everyone been doing?
I have officially started my holidays as of 2 hours ago We are still trying to sell the house but still having issues getting pre approval for the next mortgage (who would have thought it would be so difficult when you already HAVE a mortgage?!) and hoping we can sell soon as things are starting to go wrong again, the ceiling fans have broken the sewerage that was completely repiped last year has backed up again, the air con not being the best of campers. Viewings are picking up now but we don't even know if we CAN move!
Other than trying to keep house clean and spending money we don't have on a house we don't want, nothing more been going on!

Poor Suz. I hope something happens for you soon. Remember Misty and her attempts to move to South Africa? All the trouble she had selling her house etc. Well, she finally made it so hopefully you will do the same. Perhaps it's not in your "stars" to move right now but once you see "THE" house things will begin to fall into place for you I'm sure. Now don't go coming back with negative comments ok?

Yes, Christmas is well and truly over and it seems it was only like yesterday and here we are already into the 13th day of the new year. Our Christmas was pretty busy, at least for 3 days out of 4. On the holiday Monday which was Proclomation Day in South Australia, it was pretty quiet. Hubby and I felt quite bored actually because we had been 'on the go' for 3 days then coming to a stand-still so we went to visit some friends just to break up the boredom - it worked!

New year was quiet too. I worked New years day, putting quite a few hours in down at the medical centre. I got a lot done which I can't get done normally so that was good.

Since then, hubby has gone back to work. (He had 3 weeks off on annual leave) and as of this week I have started back on full-time. Over the break some of my clients closed down and I took some leave from most of my private cleans, but this week everyone is back and so am I.
I don't think we did anything unusual....although now I am looking forward to Easter as I get 4 days off so we are going to the York Penninsula, Ardrossan, to spend a few days with my brother and his wife. It will be a good rest for both of us. My sister-in-law always makes sure we are well fed

We had stuff go 'bung' prior to Christmas too Suz. Our fridge had to have a new timer = money. Hubby's roller door packed up = money. Hubby broke one of our light shades in the bedroom (we have/had 3 matching on our ceiling light) it hasn't been replaced yet and it looks like we will have to replace all 3 as they don't have another one, as in single shade. The roller door has packed up again, this time it's mine = money. Our fridge is now leaking water underneath so we either have to get someone in to look at it or buy another, either way = money. I am opting for getting a new one as this one is years old anyway. The recent heat wave has shown us that our ducted air conditioning needs looking at. Hubby had a look and says the pipe things are corroded with calcium deposits, he can't fix it, and the pads are worn away - mind you, the a/c is years old too, so either get someone in to fix it or buy new - Hubby is opting for a new reverse cycle system, again...money. And the worst part....hubby had his stools tested, he has to have that done every couple of years because he had polyps removed, and one of the tests came back positive so he has to see the bowel doctor again = money...and I am so hoping he doesn't have to have surgery again because that cost us an arm and a leg last time. We have medical insurance but it doesn't cover that - I think we need to look into that again.
I am supposed to see an eye specialist, a podiatrist and a dietician regarding my diabetes and I haven't done that yet - same reason = money.
It's never ending!

I applied for another job at a school - as well as the 9 jobs I already have - I am supposed to go for an interview on Friday but today reminded me of why I left the last school - exhaustion! I did 3 jobs this morning and another house this afternoon and was totally knackered by the time I finished, had I had to go do yet another job, ie a school, I wouldn't have been able to do it. I laid on the lounge and slept from 3.30pm until 4.45 then went to the toilet and had another 10 minutes sitting on the loo!

Anyhow, take it easy my friends and eventually all good things come to those who wait - remember that! This comes from a really impatient person me!

Yes Misty, it's second nature to me now to wear light clothing at Christmastime. I think if I were in another part of the world at Christmas and it was snowing I would be bewildered LOL.
Welcome back and good luck with everything. My internet has been playing us something bad over the last few days. So much so that I rang Telstra and they have ordered a technician to come out on Saturday to look at my modem. Yesterday and today I have been able to open my browser but only after waiting ages and most times getting a message that I had lost connection - when I did get anything, such as this, I wasn't able to send.

Today, well tonight, it has all come good and I can't believe the speed these pages are now opening at - this tells me that it was Telstra who must have been at fault and not my modem. Anyway I will wait a couple of days and see how it goes before I keep the appt or ring to cancel them.

misty, you can't expect to live in a house that doesn't feel right. You believe in yourself, don't take a house just because, you'll know when you walk into it whether its been vaccumed or not

JJ came back and then disappeared again? Whoosh! I know she is busy with work and looking after her parents at this time, we wish you well JJ

GR - weather yes...crappy then nice then crappy and now nice again here in SA, I'm back to sweating LOL. Just glad it will be nice over easter because we are going away for a few days.

Tuesday: I went to my daughter's graduation ceremony at the Festival Theatre in the city. It was a nice ceremony but very long and therefore it got boring but you hang in there don't ya? LOL
Here is a pic of her in her cap and gown and little me standing next to her LOL (didn't realise just how short I am!)

She is holding a Bachelor of Nursing degree so now she is a Registered Nurse, 6 years of hard, dedicated work but it's paid off. She works at one of our hospitals in the northern suburbs in paediatrics and loves it.

After this I decided to go to the Women's & Children's hospital which is just up the road from where we were, and visit some old work collegues. I can't believe that it's been almost 6 years since I left there. I was a PSA (Patient Support Attendant) there for 4 years on Newland ward. Which really is a fancy name for a cleaner-cum-gopher, we used to clean in between running around doing jobs for nurses, fetching this and that, and taking patients here and there, but it was a good job and I loved it until the end. BUT anyway I saw some old friends I used to work with who are still there, including some nurses and a boss or two and to my surprise, the people I never even remembered, remembered me - and by name!

So, I left there and decided it was time to head home - I was looking at about 45 minutes drive. It was reasonably warm at that stage too so my car was already hot on the inside and I wasn't looking forward to driving through the city to get home, even though it is on the outside basically, there is still lots of traffic and HEAPS of traffic lights.
So....heading home, stopping at all lights - every one of them red, including pedestrian crossings, when I looked down and noticed my temperature gauge, the needle was between normal and hot, this is unusual because it never normally gets over the normal line. Then I noticed that once I got going it came down to under the normal line again, so I thought and said out loud (lol - to myself) just wait till we get home and I'll check your radiator, you may need some water - mind you, it has always been full when checked but it hasn't been checked in a little while - shame on me I know!
I began to think that perhaps I should call into a servo and get some water into it, but being very timid at this sort of thing and servo's not being what they once were as far as help, I decided to try to push it to get it home, that way she can cool down completely and then I can get hubby to look when he gets home from work.

Ok so there I was, got out of the city, stop-start, stop-start all the way...
Finally, I got on to the Southern Expressway....cool, I was only about 6-8 minutes away from home, just have to get to the end of this, 4 more sets of traffic lights and I'm home and hosed! Get this...I was 1km......ONE LOUSY KM away from the exit when my oil light came on - it flashed for a few seconds.....what the?? Was my thinking - I have never had that before, so ok she must be low on oil as well....."hang in there baby" I'm telling my car, "not far now, just get me home and we'll fill you up"
Well, she didn't want to know did she? The motor began to make loud banging noises and stalled. Lucky I was in the left hand lane anyway so I guided her off the road and parked.
I rang the RAA (Royal Automobile Assoc) who said they would be out within the hour but as soon as poss. By this time it was already 3pm. But I never panicked, I never even got upset or frustrated, I just accepted it. Then rang hubby at work to tell him that I had broken down. He finishes work at 4pm and would have passed me on his way home.
Do you know what I did then? LOL I settled myself back and closed my eyes and began to drift off a little bit, I awoke to someone knocking on my passenger window, it was the RAA man. Goodness it had been about 40 minutes later by then!

Anyhoooo he checked my car and told me what I already knew, that she needed a drink and he topped her up with water and tightened the radiator hose, he said it could have been leaking out of there slowly and I wouldn't have noticed. But he didn't have any oil on board, so luckily hubby was still at work so I rang him and asked him if he can pick up some oil on the way through. He left work 15 minutes early and got that for me on his way. When he stopped the RAA man was still with me so he explained to hubby what he thought I'd done and he put some oil in my motor. He thought that it may have been enough to get me home so I jumped in and drove a few metres down the road before she conked out again, loud noise and all. RAA man stopped again but hubby had continued on, I was following him home.

RAA man ordered a tow truck for me and left me waiting. Hubby realised I wasn't behind him so he stopped up around the corner and walked back and waited with me till the tow truck came. This actually arrived at about 5.45pm. So 3 hours I was stranded and only about 5 minutes drive away from home. I count my blessings that I was close to home when it happened, I said to hubby, it could have been worse - I feel lucky.

So what a great day ay?
I'll find out after easter what is going to happen with it. My ex husband is a mechanic and is going to come over and take a look - try to chase up something for me. I'm so pleased we still get along LOL
In the meantime, poor Dave has lost his car for 2 days LOL - I pinched the Astra off of him so I can get to and from work. Luckily he is getting a ride with a guy who works with him and lives near by.
On Monday we are going down to Victor Harbor to Dave's daughter's house. We gave them that ute that we had and she said I can have it back - I was only going to borrow it but she says to have it back - anyway, we'll see. Either way, at least I have a vehicle while mine is having a well-deserved break.
